Teton Valley Ranch Camp: Arts and Crafts Director
What is TVRC? Teton Valley Ranch Camp is a summer camp for children ages 11-17 located in the wilderness of Wyoming. While at camp the kids get the opportunity to go on a backpack and packtrip, as well as participate in rodeos. While the kids are not on trips and are in camp, they get to choose between a number of different activities including craft shop, fishing, horsemanship and many others.
The summer before my senior year at Penn State, I had the opportunity to run the craft shop. This involved planning two, two hour activities each day from July to August. I had a great time learning with the kids, as they taught me so much. I learned what it is like to think on my feet, deal with a bit of chaos, order my own materials and handle a budget, and also had the opportunity to use the surrounding Wyoming landcape for a variety of fieldtrips and hands on activities.
Common Activities
Dream Catchers, Belt Making, Painting Horses at the Barn, Mosaics, Wind Chimes, Fairy Homes, Plaster Masks and Hands, Group Murals, Mosaics, Copper Enameling
