The fourth and fifth grade classes have been learning about topographic maps. We used the idea of contour lines, which are often used in drawing, to create mountains. Students learned about watercolor techniques and then had the opportunity to create their own watercolor. We used that paper to create a mountain by layering paper and cardboard. Students then finished the piece with a background and a frame for their mountains.
