In fifth grade we have been learning about value and different ways to create value in a drawing. In order to practice this new skill, the students create facial features and add value to them in order to make them look somewhat realistic. When the facial features are complete, they are glued to a new piece of paper. At this point the students are in charge of creating a face around their facial features. They may add patterns, hair, accessories, and any other fun details. The piece is completed by watercoloring the background.
