Ripped Paper Collage

First and second graders have recently been learning about collage. They had the opportunity to choose their own color scheme and create a watercolor painting of their choice using the colors they chose. Ripping those paintings up was a delightful time in the art room and created a large amount of ripped paper for the collages to be made from. Each child worked hard creating their own image for their collage and we talked about overlapping and glueing with glue sponges before they got started. These took patience but turned out very beautifully and mosaic-like.
