We have been talking about different styles of printmaking and in order to dip our toes into this art technique, first and second graders have been printing with fruit and vegetables. They move around to stations containing pepper slices, grapefruit, lemons and limes, apples, and celery. When the printing is complete, the students use a variety of patterns and value techniques to make the prints their own. Each print is unique and gives the students a choice in how to finish their artwork. This is definitely one of my favorite projects from the year and the resulting work is truly amazing!
